On this Lake Constance round trip, you will cycle through Germany, Austria and Switzerland, always accompanied by dreamlike landscapes: the crystal-clear lake, vineyards and orchards as well as snow-covered peaks of the Alps that seem to rise directly out of the water. You have plenty of time along the way to discover the small and large sights at your own pace. Medieval picture-book towns such as Constance and Stein am Rhein, Überlingen with its Mediterranean lakeside promenade, the Zeppelin city of Friedrichshafen or Bregenz with its spectacular lake stage are just a few of the many places worth seeing on this Lake Constance cycle tour. Another highlight of the Lake Constance bike tour is a detour to the Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen. It is one of the largest waterfalls in Europe – impressind!

Day 1: Individual arrival in Constance
Your journey begins in Constance, the classic starting point for many Lake Constance cycling tours. Take your time to explore the largest city on the lake at your leisure. The medieval old town is one of the most beautiful in the region. You will find numerous restaurants and cafés in the winding streets and alleys. Or how about climbing the tower of Constance Cathedral? From the viewing platform you can enjoy a wonderful view of Lake Constance and the city. When visibility is good, you can even see the peaks of the Alps, some of which are covered in snow.
Day 2: Constance ‒ Island of Reichenau ‒ Schaffhausen, approx. 45 km + boat trip
Here we go! On the first stage of your Lake Constance cycle tour, you will first cycle to the island of Reichenau, famous for its vegetable cultivation. You will then take a boat to the Höri peninsula. It was once an inspiring domicile for many artists. Continue on to the Swiss town of Stein am Rhein. Stroll through the beautiful old town with its enchantingly painted houses. You now turn your back on Lake Constance and follow the Rhine to Schaffhausen. Pay a visit to the nearby Rhine Falls with its thundering masses of water.
Day 3: Schaffhausen ‒ Ludwigshafen / Überlingen, approx. 35 ‒ 50 km + boat trip
Your cycling stage starts in a relaxed way with a boat trip to Stein am Rhein. Let the landscape pass you by in a relaxed manner. From Stein am Rhein, you cycle across the Höri peninsula to the spa town of Radolfzell. Treat yourself to a delicious ice cream before mastering some climbs towards Ludwigshafen. A few kilometres away you will reach Überlingen, which boasts a five-kilometre-long promenade as well as parks and gardens. You will spend the night in Ludwigshafen or in Überlingen.
Day 4: Überlingen ‒ Friedrichshafen, approx. 35 km
With Lake Constance mostly in view, the cycle tour first takes you in the direction of Meersburg. On the way, it is worth making a detour to the pilgrimage church of Birnau. It is considered the most beautiful baroque church on Lake Constance. After a few kilometres you reach Meersburg. We recommend a visit to the castle, which will take you back to the Middle Ages. Friedrichshafen, your destination for the day, is more modern. The museum dedicated to the Zeppelin airship has the world's largest collection of aviation history and technology. From the Moleturm at the harbour you can watch the sunset wonderfully.
Day 5: Friedrichshafen ‒ Lindau / Bregenz, approx. 30 / 40 km
The Lake Constance Cycle Path takes you through lush green orchards on the first few kilometres. With Lindau, you reach the only Bavarian town on Lake Constance. Lindau's old town lies on an island. Leave your bike behind and stroll through the pretty alleys to the harbour. It is guarded in style by the Bavarian Lion. Back on the mainland, you cycle to the Austrian festival town of Bregenz at the foot of the Pfaender. You will spend the night in Lindau or Bregenz.
Day 6: Lindau – Rorschach / Arbon / Horn, approx. 30 – 50 km
After breakfast, get on your bike and cycle towards the Rhine coming from the Swiss Alps, which flows into Lake Constance at Hard. After crossing the Alpine Rhine, you will mostly cycle along the shore of Lake Constance to Rorschach. Treat yourself to a dip in the cool waters at the historic bathing hut. Continue through small villages to Arbon, one of the oldest towns on Lake Constance. You will spend the night in Rorschach or Arbon.
Day 7: Rorschach – Constance, approx. 30 – 50 km
The last stage of your Lake Constance cycle tour is coming up. Close to the shore, the route takes you to Romanshorn. Treat yourself to a good coffee at the harbour and watch the ships sail across the lake. On we go! On your way to Constance you will have the opportunity to cool off in the water again and again – wonderful! Leave your bike in Constance and take another stroll through the old town. A visit to the Rosgarten Museum is highly recommended.
