Arrival in Constance

On April 24, we arrived in Constance by train from Paris to Zurich and on to Constance. After picking up our travel documents at the hotel, we made our way to Radweg Reisen.

The friendly team at Radweg Reisen's reception was always happy to answer any questions.

At the end of the afternoon, we took a short walk through the streets of Constance. An overview in the travel diary shows the area of the lake and the route that awaits us for the next 7 days.

Radolfzell Lake Constance

First day of the cycle tour: Constance - Überlingen, 50 km

A very pleasant little town. A few snowflakes fell on the way there, but fortunately this didn't last long and the rest of the journey became much more pleasant with the return of the sun.

After a stop in Radolfzell, the route takes us along orchards and brings us to Überlingen, where we explore the town on foot.

Überlingen Lake Constance

From Überlingen to Nonnenhorn

The next day we continue to Nonnenhorn.

On the way we visit the church of Birnau, which overlooks the lake, and then Meersburg, a charming town surrounded by vineyards.

The hotel in Nonnenhorn is typical and offers delicious meals.

Lindau and Bregrenz

Continue via Lindau and Bregenz

The journey continues to the Lindau peninsula with a lively little harbor and a pedestrian zone like in any other town.

The Pfänder in the Austrian town of Bregenz offers a view of Lake Constance and the snow-capped Alps.

Headwind along the Rhine - worse than a stage of the Tour de France.

Stein on the Rhine

On to Schaffhausen and the Rhine Falls - the crowning glory of our 280 km journey.

Stein am Rhein: the facades of the houses are like an open picture book.

From Schaffhausen to Stein am Rhein, we travel up the Rhine by boat to enjoy the view from the river and then get back on our bikes to get to the island of Reichenau.

Finally, we make a detour to the flower island of Mainau before leaving Constance.

Auf der Insel Reichenau

This trip offered new landscapes and surprises every day with the lake as a constant backdrop - an experience we would love to repeat on other routes.
