Day 1: Individual arrival in Constance
Your active cycling vacation at Lake Constance begins in Constance, the largest city on the lake. After checking into your hotel, you'll set off on your bike. Explore the old town with its pretty alleyways and visit the cathedral, from whose tower you have a wonderful view of the city and the lake. Or how about a detour to the harbor? There you will come across Imperia. The rotating statue is the town's landmark and refers to the church council in the 15th century.
Day 2: Constance – Kressbronn, approx. 35 km + ferry trip
Let's go! The first stage of your active cycling vacation at Lake Constance takes you quickly to the ferry terminal in the Staad district of Constance. Take the ferry to Meersburg. Visit the old town with its majestic castle before cycling to Friedrichshafen via the wine villages of Hagnau and Immenstaad. The town is known as the cradle of the Zeppelin. Look up from time to time and you might spot the silent airships hovering over the lake. The route continues over the Langenargen suspension bridge to Kressbronn.
Day 3: Wellness, swimming and sailing
Today is pampering day! Treat yourself to a massage or a visit to the sauna at the hotel before exploring Kressbronn's surroundings, which are characterized by vineyards, orchards and hop gardens, on your own. Or how about a dip in the cool waters of Lake Constance just a few meters from the hotel? In the evening, an experienced skipper will take you out on the lake for a two-hour sailing trip. On your return to the hotel, a 3-course menu awaits you.
Day 4: Day trip to Bregenz, approx. 50 km
Your active cycling tour at Lake Constance takes you to Austria! Not far from the lakeshore, you first cycle to Lindau, whose old town island is an ideal stopover. Treat yourself to a coffee at the harbor entrance with a view of the lion, the lighthouse and the mountains before you cycle along an almost flat path to Bregenz. The Austrian town is famous for its summer festival and the Pfänder. Speaking of the Pfänder: the cable car takes you up over 1,000 meters to the mountain station. Impressed by the view of the lake and the surrounding Alpine peaks, you cycle back to Kressbronn.
Day 5: Kressbronn – Constance, approx. 35 km + ferry trip
Relax on your active cycling vacation at Lake Constance from Kressbronn to Friedrichshafen. Take the ferry across the lake to Romanshorn. Along the Swiss shore of Lake Constance, the Lake Constance Cycle Path takes you to Constance, never far from the water. You have the opportunity to stop for a swim along the way. To round off the stage, you can enjoy a cool beer on the Seerhein in Constance or take a walk along Seestraße – including a view of the sunset.
Day 6: Excursion to Überlingen, approx. 35 km + boat, ferry and canoe trip
Another highlight awaits you a few kilometers from Constance city center: a canoe trip from Wallhausen! Glide across the lake in around three hours and get to know it from a different perspective. From Wallhausen, take the boat to Überlingen. Stroll along the lakeside promenade before hopping on your bike towards Meersburg. Take the opportunity to stroll through Meersburg's vineyards and fortify yourself with a glass of local wine. Take the ferry back to Constance.
Day 7: Excursion to the Island of Reichenau & Stein am Rhein, approx. 50 km + boat trip
From Constance, you cycle to the Island of Reichenau. Located in the western part of Lake Constance, the Lower Lake, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are three medieval churches on the island, between which you will find market gardens and vineyards. Take the boat to Gaienhofen on the Höri peninsula. The journey continues at a leisurely pace to Stein am Rhein. Time for a break and a coffee on the town hall square lined with frescoed houses. The route continues along the High Rhine back to Constance.
