One lake, three countries and ten days of time – the gentle cycle holiday around Lake Constance and to the Rhine Falls is ideal for all those who want to go on a journey of discovery and relaxation with an average of 35 kilometers per stage. You start in the council city of Constance, cycle along the High Rhine and experience the thundering waters of the impressive Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen. Via the Höri peninsula and the Bodanrück you will reach Lake Überlingen. Enjoy the view of the lake, the size of which gradually presents itself to you around Meersburg. Mostly close to the shore you will cycle on the holiday at Lake Constance and to the Rhine Falls for strollers relaxed to the Zeppelin city Friedrichshafen and to the festival city Bregenz. High up you will climb the Pfänder, before you cross the (Alpine) Rhine and reach the Swiss shore of Lake Constance. You will travel leisurely towards your destination of Constance, and along the way you will always have the opportunity to take a dip in the refreshing Lake Constance.

Day 1: Individual arrival in Constance

Your gentle cycling holiday around Lake Constance begins in Constance. After checking in at the hotel, hop on your bike and explore the largest city on the lake. Climb the tower of the cathedral, enjoy a cool beer by the Rhine or stroll through the alleyways of Niederburg, the oldest part of Constance.

Day 2: Constance – Gailingen / Stein am Rhein / Wangen, approx. 30 – 40 km

After crossing the German-Swiss border, follow the Lake Constance Cycle Path along the Untersee towards Stein am Rhein. The small island of Werd is located near Eschenz. It can be reached via a bridge and is an ideal place to stop for a break. In Stein am Rhein, you will find an old town worth seeing, characterized by colourful facade paintings. A few kilometers downstream you reach Gailingen, which boasts the only fully preserved wooden bridge on the High Rhine. You spend the night in Stein am Rhein or Gailingen.

Day 3: Excursion to the Rhine Falls, approx. 20 / 40 km + boat and boat trip

Today it's off to the Rhine Falls! First you cycle along the charming river landscape of the High Rhine to Schaffhausen. Explore the town of oriels with its lively old town and the Munot fortress, from where you have a wonderful view of the town and the Rhine. A stone's throw away: the rushing waters of the Rhine Falls. You can get up close to it on a boat trip - very impressive! In Schaffhausen you board the boat again. It will take you to Diessenhofen. From there you cycle to Gailingen or Stein am Rhein.

Day 4: Gailingen – Radolfzell, approx. 35 / 25 km

On today's stage of your gentle cycle holiday around Lake Constance, you first head to the Höri. The peninsula is famous for the many artists who were once inspired by it. Visit the Hesse Museum or the Haus Dix Museum in Gaienhofen before heading to your destination for the day, Radolfzell. The cathedral there has the highest church tower on Lake Constance. Or how about a detour to the Mettnau peninsula?

Day 5: Radolfzell – Überlingen / Uhldingen, approx. 25 / 35 km

The first few kilometers of your cycling day today take you over the Bodanrück. After some steep climbs, you reach Lake Constance again. Cycle close to the shore via Bodman-Ludwigshafen and Sipplingen to Überlingen. Take a stroll along the five-kilometre-long lakeside promenade and enjoy the Mediterranean flair. A visit to the town garden is also recommended. Exotic plants meet lush rose bushes – an ideal place to relax.

Day 6: Überlingen – Friedrichshafen, approx. 25 / 35 km

There is plenty to see today. Be it the baroque Birnau pilgrimage church in the middle of a vineyard, the pile-dwelling museum in Unteruhldingen or Meersburg Castle, which takes you back to the Middle Ages – all very worth seeing! Not far from Lake Constance, you cycle to your destination for the day, Friedrichshafen, with virtually no ascent. The construction of the first airships once began in the Zeppelin city . You can find out more about the history of the giants still floating in the sky today at the Zeppelin Museum at the harbor.

Day 7: Friedrichshafen – Lindau / Bregenz, approx. 30 / 40 km

The gentle cycle holiday around Lake Constance takes you to the eastern part of Lake Constance with a view of the Alps. You reach the Bavarian town of Lindau at a relaxed pace. The old town is located on an island and can be reached via a causeway. The harbor entrance with the Bavarian lion and the lighthouse is particularly pretty. Treat yourself to a coffee with a view of the lake and the mountains before heading to the festival town of Bregenz. You will spend the night in Lindau or Bregenz.

Day 8: Lindau – Rorschach / Arbon / Horn, approx. 30 – 50 km

Before you get on your bike, you can enjoy a relaxing ride up the Pfänder. Once at the top, you have an excellent view of Lake Constance and countless Alpine peaks from Bregenz's local mountain. Back on the bike, the route takes you swiftly across the (Alpine) Rhine to Rorschach in Switzerland or to Arbon, just a few kilometers away. Situated between the hills of Appenzellerland and Lake Constance, both towns with their lidos offer refreshing moments in the lake and beautiful views of the opposite shore.

Day 9: Rorschach – Constance, approx. 30 – 50 km

The last few kilometers of your gentle cycle holiday around Lake Constance are about to begin. Cycle close to the lake to Romanshorn. Watch the ships leave the harbor before you head for your destination of Constance on the Lake Constance Cycle Path. Leave your bike on arrival and look back on the past eventful days with a glass of Lake Constance wine!
